This story was previously serialized in in Young Sports of America, Aug 10, 1895 – September 14, 1895) as "THE WIZARD OF THE DEEP; or, THE SEARCH FOR THE MILLION DOLLAR PEARL" by THEODORE EDISON.

The novel is one of the “Great Marvel” series and it largely plagiarizes Jules Vernes’ 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
