JETTA OF THE LOWLANDS is a science fiction novel by American writer, RAY CUMMINGS. The novel was serialized in three parts in ASTOUNDING STORIES MAGAZINE from September to November 1930. The post-apocalyptic novel begins in 1929, when the fishing banks off the Coast of Newfoundland suddenly sank. Cable ships repairing a broken cable, snapped by the earthquake of November 18th, 1929, reported that for distances of a hundred miles on the Grand Banks the cables disappeared into unfathomable depths. And before the subterranean cataclysm, they were within six hundred feet of the surface. The bottom of that section of the North Atlantic seems to have caved in. Ten thousand square miles dropped out of the bottom of the ocean!
And now, almost 100 years later, Philip Grant is assigned a mission to explore the Lowlands, the former ocean floor, where he encounters danger, strange landscapes, a scientific bandit, and a mysterious and captivating girl named, Jetta.
